Projects

D Natural Blues

This composition is inspired by "busking" (street performances for donations).  In this composition, I wanted to emulate the feeling of busking at a city terminal.  I focused on adding the right amount of reverb on the Ableton Live drum track to get a nice echo.  I am performing on the saxophone.

Golden

"Golden" is an original composition that is based off of the town of Golden, Colorado.  I visited the town to see my sister after she had recently moved there.  I felt inspired to write a tune based on the landscape. I am performing on the saxophone with the Principia College Jazz Combo.

Coltrane Changes type beat

This composition is a beat that utilizes the chord progression that Jazz great John Coltrane often used in his compositions and arrangements (such as "Giant Steps" and "26-2").  The ending of the song includes a reference to John Coltrane's famous tune, "Naima."  This is a project where I performed on the saxophone and edited the recordings in GarageBand for song production.

Ahmad Jamal Sample

This is my first song project that involves sampling another song.  The sample I used is a snippet from Ahmad Jamal's song "I Love Music."  I used GarageBand to splice the audio while I used Ableton to create the beat and to edit the EQ as well as adding various sound effects.

Desafinado

This track is an experimental composition I did where I fused a jazz/bossa nova standard with the Synthwave genre.  This project was produced and recorded on GarageBand.

Memoirs of a forgotten Autumn

This is a lo-fi inspired reharmonization of the famous tune Autumn Leaves.  The tune has a melancholy vibe to it, which fits the noire-esque feel I desired to convey. I produced, recorded, and edited this composition with Ableton.

Sweden

This is my lo-fi arrangement of the Minecraft song "Sweden." This track was produced and recorded with Ableton.

Garota de Ipanema

This is a lo-fi hip hop arrangement I created of the famous bossa nova jazz standard, "The Girl from Ipanema."  I mainly used GarageBand for this project since it was an older project I worked on and I did not have Ableton at the time.

Rejoicin' with the Principia Jazz Quintet

Recorded in the summer of 2019 by the Principia Jazz Combo.  I was featured in this album as the tenor saxophone player.

Six-Foot Rule!

The second album recorded by the Principia Jazz Combo.  The title of the album humorously references social distancing, as it was recorded in the Summer of the 2020 COVID pandemic.  Rather than recording in a typical recording studio, the combo decided to experiment and record in a more spacious area, in attempt to emulate some of the more spacious jazz venues.
